Access, use and control over land impacts a wide range of human rights issues including poverty reduction, access to an adequate standard of living, development projects and humanitarian interventions and conflict prevention. A new report by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human RIghts contains a number of recommendations including for additional protection of human rights defenders dealing with land issues. This report is the first of a series of documents that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) will produce on the links between land and human rights.
