Today, Western Sahara civil society organizations issued a statement criticizing the Swiss organization “Crans-Montana” for planning its annual forum this year (12–14 March 2015) in the occupied territory of Western Sahara. The organizations noted that lending such recognition to Morocco’s illegal occupation of Western Sahara violates international law and the self-determination rights of the Sahrawi people. Echoing the position of the government of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, the Frente POLISARIO and the African Union heads of states and governments, calling on all parties to refrain from participating in the Crans-Montana Forum planned in the occupied city of al-Dakhla.
