promoted by the Global Land Tools Network (GLTN), hosted within UN Habitat, is a participatory land information tool that allows for the recordation of all possible types of tenures. STDM enables mapping boundary surveys based on handheld GPS observations, or by drawing boundaries on satellite images. Information on community tenure and families’ occupations in informal settlements are captured and registered through STDM, providing a form of certification of the tenure claimed.
