Brief narrative

On 30 January 2023, the Moroccan Mayor of al-`Ayun ordered to demolish part of a property that belonged to the (Sahrawi) Laroussi family living for decades in the city center. The mayor claimed in a press release that demolished section was property belonging to the city posing a public hazard. The father of the Laroussi family stood in front of the bulldozer in an attempt to stop the demolition, but occupation officers forced him out of the way to execute the demolition.
