Brief narrative | More than 600 police forcibly dispersed 270 vendors gathered at Beijing’s Silk Alley outdoor market. The vendors were protesting their eviction and the planned destruction of the market grounds. After several failed petitions, vendors organized a sit-in to stop the demolition of the market area. Following the dispersion of the protestors, the market was demolished.\r\nSource: AFP, Straits Times | ||||||||
