Brief narrative "In January 2006, employees of the Ministry of Housing evicted at least 368 families from their homes adjacent to the Caracas viaduct. After heavy rains and landslides, the area was considered to be in danger of further landslides, as well as the collapse of the viaduct. Many of the evictees had no immediate housing alternatives, although the Ministry of Infrastructure assured affected families that they would be given one of three options: a home in a safer location, a subsidy to purchase a home, or alternative housing under construction for the evicted families in Miranda State.226
